it's about getting wiser, getting discounts, and finally getting on Medicare. It's the age when your mailbox fills with birthday cards and insurance brochures! Lots of insurance brochures!
Having a Medicare advisor is important because Medicare can be surprisingly complex. Here’s why a Medicare advisor can make a big difference:
There are multiple parts (A, B, C, D) and many plan options. An advisor helps you understand what’s essential and what fits your specific needs.
Everyone's health, and lifestyles are different. A Medicare advisor can match you with plans that best suit your individual situation.
With every unique situation, Social Security may need more information. A good advisor will identify those needs and help you with the forms needed, so there is no delay in your Medicare enrollment process.
An advisor will guide you through enrollment deadlines, paperwork, and how to avoid late penalties.
A good advisor sticks with you year after year, helping you review your plan during open enrollment and adapt to any life changes.
Please reach me at leannaball@medicarehelpcenter.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.
If you are receiving Social Security already, then yes, you will receive your Medicare card in the mail about 3 months before your 65th birthday month.
If you are not receiving Social Security just yet, you will have to sign up yourself. There are several ways you can sign up.
1- You can make an appointment at your local Social Security office and sign up.
2- You can sign up through your account of myssa.gov. You can create an account if you haven’t already. Highly suggest this route. I have a blog post on how to create an account in the ”more” drop down tab at the top of this page.
3- You can make an appointment with me, together we will decide the best route for you to sign up and I will guide you through the process.
Absolutely you can! It will not affect you going on Medicare. If you plan to keep working past 65, and want to drop your employers insurance and get on Medicare, there is an extra form you will need your employer to fill out. I can help assist you with the form and make sure it is filled out correctly and sent into Social Security on time so there is no delay.
Everyone’s circumstances are different. I suggest making an appointment with me no less than 4 months before you plan to be on Medicare if you are still working with or without employer insurance. This way we can chat about your situation. Get a plan together. Have a timeline. Get your Medicare A&B application sent off in time to be effective On your desired month.
If you are already on Social Security and have or will have your Medicare card, usually 2 months before Medicare is effective is plenty of time to go through plan options and apply.
I can absolutely help assist you with applying for Medicare A&B. Making sure you have all the necessary information needed on the application. Fill out the “contact me” form and I will get back to you shortly to set up an appointment. Or you can click on “Schedule an appointment with me” on the home page and the contact me page. If you rather just call me my number is 636-674-9907.
